The building housed the team overseeing the construction of the line until the new Railway Station, with its professional offices, was ready for occupation. In 1867 the Traffic Manager took up residence in the house and it continued to be used as the residence for the top Railway official in Central Queensland until it was sold to private hands in 1974. The house is a single skin timber and tin home, with external stud framing and was very innovative in design for its time. Goldston House is the oldest 'Queenslander' known to exist in Queensland. A king bed and elegant red cedar furniture make this room fit for any special occasion. The ensuite boasts a freestanding spa bath and a separate shower. Gourmet BreakfastA full breakfast is served daily from 7.00am or by arrangment, choose from the Seasonal Menu or ask our resident chef to whip up your traditional favourite. Breakfast in our sun-filled Breakfast Room, in the Dining Room, on the Verandah or even in your favourite Garden corner.
